Pasta Slam 2022 in pops for Italian: Organized by the Hometown Restaurant Group, this carb fest is a fundraising event for LGBTQ + community center affiliations. Five chefs from the hospitality group will compete, while a panel of participants and local celebrities will vote for their favorite based on taste, presentation and creativity. Competing chefs are Italian sauce chef Josh Barex, Culinary Director of Hometown Restaurant Group Christian Borden, Public House Head Chef Richard Downing, One Eyed Betty Head Chef Dustin Schuler, Culinary Consultant Meghan Shaw and HRG Executive Chef Winn. Burger fights in the Eastern Market: Fairway Packing’s annual Burger Bonanza returns with a fierce competition between local restaurants and chefs. Participants vote for their favorite, and go to the top five final round, decided by local celebrities and food critics. Enjoy Diaspora Dinner in the Apparatus Room: Celebrate Jonathan and explore Detroit’s food history at this multi-course dinner hosted by food activists Germand Bose, Rafael Wright and Edrick Godia. 8 miles vodka wins double gold medal: The 8 Mile Vodka brand owned by Michigan has won the Double Gold Medal Award for Taste at the 2022 San Francisco World Spirit Competition. Roh has also been nominated for “Best in Class” and the award will be unveiled on June 24.
