We’re back at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for more menu changes. Last week, we tried out new dishes at the Sci-Fi Dine Inn theater restaurant, and today we’re here to see the changes in the 50’s prime time cafe.
The 50’s prime time cafe is in Echo Lake near Hollywood & Wine and the Dinosaur Gratty’s Ice Cream of Extinction.
It plays a great role in the 1950s, promising to bring you “home-cooked” food.
Jalapeño Popper Deviled Eggs – $ 11
Cilantro, jalapeño, and traditional devil eggs
These are great. They have a strong jalapeño heat and a legitimate spice. Great, two thumbs up.
Creamy Tomato Soup – $ 9
This soup is reminiscent of grated cheese, which the croutons help. The taste of the soup is indescribable. It’s orange, unlike your traditional red tomato soup. Definitely too much dairy, too much cheese. We grabbed some tomatoes at the back. It’s not bad, but it’s not uncommon.
Grandpa Jane’s Chicken Pot Pie – $ 24
A traditional pastry crust filled with chicken, potatoes, carrots, celery, onions, corn and peas
It’s like a deconstructed chicken pot pie. The filling is like soup with pastry pillows. The pie crust is nice and flaky, with a lot of butter. The soup consists of large chunks of chicken with peas and carrots. Everything tastes fresh, and the broth is creamy.
He got rid of the chicken noodle soup, which many liked, but it’s like being born again. Instead of noodles, you get pastries. It is filling and tasty. We recommend it.
Blue Plate Special – Southern style shrimp and grits
Grits, shrimp, sausage,
The grits are wonderful, very creamy, and well made. Shrimp is fine, but well cooked sausage adds a little spice.
Blue Plate Special is seasonal and changes all the time, so the availability of this dish is unknown. However, if it is on the menu when you visit, we recommend it.
Lemon Maringo Pie – $ 9
Flaky pie shell is topped with a lemon yogurt toasted marigold and garnished with raspberry sauce
If you like lemongrass, this is great. The crust has perfect astringency and batter flavor, while the marango is well-textured and delicious.
Grass Shopper Bar – $ 8
Mint white chocolate mousse with chocolate chips on chocolate chip cookie topped with whip cream and chocolate chips
it’s awesome. We don’t like mint sweets, but that’s just the right amount. This top is perfectly complemented by the creamy milkiness and thin chocolate chip cookie crust. The top layers are light, just heavy cookie, and it’s perfect.
Pineapple Upside Down Cake – $ 9.50
Yellow cake soaked in pineapple juice Top caramelized pineapple and marashino cherry garnished with whip cream and caramel sauce
The lightest cake, very airy. It has a mild flavor, and the pineapple flavor is fresh. Exactly what you would expect from a pineapple upside down cake. We will get it back.
Dad’s Favorite Chocolate Painted Butter Layered Cake – $ 8
A wonderful, rich, chocolate cake with a strong peanut butter flavor on the back. It is topped with thick, full frosting. It also comes with two large slices and will be perfect for sharing.
Sweet of stained glass
Pineapple fluff filled with cubes of strawberry, lime and orange gelatin
It comes with baby food. Jello tastes like jello. The whipped cream here is better than any other dessert. It’s like a cool whip, while others are like spray cans. Kids can choose it or ice cream. It’s really just a basic jello dessert.
The 50’s prime time cafe is a legendary staple of Hollywood studios, like the sci-fi dine in. While the new menu at Dine Inn didn’t match the restaurant’s feel or failed to “wow” us in quality, we felt the opposite here with new items. I would dare say that prime time is better than ever with these additions, classic things like onion rings, pot roasts, meat loaf, and of course just another peanut butter and jelly country shake. Second only to the Hollywood Brown Derby in this park, we suggest you visit Mom and the rest of the family soon. Oh, and keep your elbows off the tables, Beware!
